Version 4.5 includes significant behind-the-scenes improvements to the performance and maintainability of the theme. It also includes more fine-tune control over SEO of each page and your site as a whole, as well as some other minor changes including additions to the pattern library.
SEO Features
- Users can now control the meta title, description, social media image, and custom meta tags for each page.
- New SEO section in the customizer allows you to change your site title and default meta image for social media posts that link to your site.
Other Changes
- Added 404 template part so users can edit their 404 pages.
- Added new UW admin user theme. To enable, go to Users > Profile and select “UW Madison” as your Admin Color Scheme.
- Default buttons no longer force a blue box shadow.
- Removed all theme support for comments.
- Add new tags style variation for Post Terms block.
- Better dark mode and branding support for events calendar plugin.
- Pattern library is updated with more starter templates for your pages.
Performance Improvements
- Smaller style and script asset sizes to improve loading time and performance.
- Significant code cleanup, paving the way for us to more quickly and easily add features and maintain existing ones.
